PLAYER

NAME: Call me Kit!
CONTACT: Just DM this journal. :}
ACTIVE TIMES/PACE: I'm EST but my sleep is a mystery sometimes. I can tag back pretty quick but don't mind a slower pace and backtagging.
BRACKETS/PROSE: Either is fine!
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: None, just ask before, yanno, iffier things. Subjects coming up in general is fine, too, just depends on how it's talked about.

IN CHARACTER

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Sure! He's used to casually touching other people but not so used to getting it himself. He'll probably roll with it, but might get kinda uncomfortable, depending!
PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Sure again! This one he's more used to, though more in the sense of a single rather than sustained attack. He can fight back pretty well, especially with his Reality Pen, but unless he has to fight he'll probably try to block and run instead.
RELATIONSHIPS: Sure, we can discuss it if it comes up! I play Mutsumi as 18; ships with characters a year or two younger, or older characters, would be reasonable.
PSYCHIC & PSIONIC INFORMATION: This is probably the closest explanation for Mutsumi's abilities, though he may not be exactly psychic. Still, he can see things and people as they actually are, including seeing through invisibility, and he can... kinda fly! Float, anyway. He probably has an interesting aura that might not ping as human.
MAGICAL INFORMATION: He's not magic at all, though some of the things he can do might seem like it. Especially the stuff he can pull off with that pen.
MEDICAL INFORMATION: Healthy! If your character can pick up on things like this, he might actually ping them as both human and maybe not entirely human in a weird way. All his baseline medical stuff is human, though.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS: He's laid back as hell and probably won't mind. If he gets uncomfortable he'll just change the subject or bounce, anyway.

OUT OF CHARACTER

BACKTAGGING: Always happy to!
THREADHOPPING: Sure, I don't mind!
FOURTHWALLING: This would be hilarious and in keeping with the series. Plus Mutsumi is used to alternate universes. Sure!
NOT INTERESTED IN: Unhappy ending stuff, and I don't play heavy angst or PWP smut with total strangers. (So like, not for a first thread or anything like that!)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

VISUAL: Normal older teenager, though on the pretty-boy side. Tanned skin, grey hair, unusually pretty blue eyes. Often has a laid-back smile. You might catch him napping outside somewhere.
AURAL: Voiced by Ishida Akira. He has a light and casual voice, often tinging somewhat playful.
OLFACTORY: Smells pretty clean. Like, normal human smells but he keeps himself washed up. Sometimes smells a little like curry, though.
DEMEANOUR: Pretty normal-seeming, friendly, incredibly laid back.

Notes:

I'm taking this character mostly from the anime, but with some details from the manga that I found fun and that don't conflict too badly with anime canon stuff -- mostly to do with his backstory!

He's also 18 now because his school and job situation are ludicrous. Everyone's ages in this series are weird.

appearance
Saburo Mutsumi looks like a pretty normal teenager, albeit on the pretty-boy side of things. In his world, having grey hair isn't too unusual (others have blue and pink and so on, after all!), but his eyes are different than most people, having an almost swirling mix of blue shades that doesn't seem quite natural. Could be contacts or just unusually nice eyes, though.

He has tanned skin and a bit of an unusual fashion sense; he's a casual fashionista, liking layers, jackets, hats, and just generally clothing with odd patterns and labels.

abilities
Reality PenA gift from Kururu, Mutsumi is in possession of this pretty normal-looking pen which can make anything he draws on any surface become real. It's possible for him to write words and have them become real as well. He can even use it to travel to other realities! The pen has his name (or rather 326) emblazoned on it, and he's the only one who can use it now; it won't work for anyone else.
"True Sight"Mutsumi is capable of seeing things as they truly are, literally. If someone looks human but isn't, he can tell, and if someone is invisible, he can still see them. This actually has nothing to do with his N326an physiology, somehow, or at least he had part of it before he met them. It may also be part of why he's one of the only ones who can consistently remember Dororo's existence.
N326an PhysiologyDespite being born human, years of being raised by an N326an on their planet has actually made him much more like them. It may or may not have anything to do with his "true sight" (he had it before but it may have increased) or IQ (ditto), but his eyes have changed in appearance to be otherworldly and he is capable of floating/flying without the use of the Reality Pen. There may be even more he can do...
Unreasonably High IQ According to a test done by his school, Mutsumi's IQ is 350. At least 350, given that he got a 100% on the IQ test. Given that the approximate IQ of the Mega Society is 171.3, and "reports of IQ scores much higher than 160 are considered dubious,"[1] this is inordinately high. Mutsumi also has incredibly high amounts of creativity and imagination, which allow him to use the Reality Pen with more skill, and make him well suited to DJing and writing poetry.
Mostly Reasonable Athleticism Mutsumi's quick, agile, and athletic, but mostly within reasonable human bounds, just one good at what he does. He rides a skateboard and a motorcycle, he's pretty skilled in a fight (though not as good as people really trained for it), and he has exceptionally good aim with things like basketballs, paper airplanes, etc.
background
Mutsumi was actually orphaned at a pretty young age; back then, he was known as Hojo Mutsumi, and his (somewhat distant) parents had died in a completely unrelated accident during an attempted N326an invasion of Earth. With humans none the wiser, the invasion had failed, and a few months after Mutsumi had been orphaned, the N326ans had been about to pull back and give up on the planet...

When Mutsumi, nine years old at the time, had approached them. At that point he could already see things as they truly were, and could tell that the human-appearing people were aliens; he asked them to take him with them, calmly explaining that he didn't have parents anyway so it wouldn't be a problem.

One of the aliens, named 865, actually agreed, not only taking Mutsumi with him but proceeding to adopt the boy as his son. Hojo Mutsumi became simply 623. He spent years on the planet N326, and when his new people learned that the Keronians had their sights set on "Pekopon," 623 became curious to see these invasion efforts for himself.

He returned to Earth, taking the name Saburo Mutsumi -- "Saburo" being goroawase number-pun wordplay for 326, just as 623 could itself be pronounced "Mutsumi" -- and settled into a bit of a "normal" life before the Keronian platoon arrived. Having been extensively educated on N326, school couldn't hold his interest, but he did become a radio DJ (where he used the name 623 as an alias to amuse himself). If he was ever asked, his father's name was Saburo Haruko, a widower who worked ouside the country -- all true, in a way, but far from the full story, of course.

The moment he caught his first glimpse of one of the Keronian invaders, of course, he was all in, determined to make this strange, interestingly unpleasant alien his best friend. It worked; Sergeant Major Kururu gifted him his Reality Pen, and the two just clicked. Thanks to this new connection, he became friends with the rest of the platoon and their human compatriots, though he still remained a bit distant. Everything the platoon pulled and got themselves into was a blast, though, and Mutsumi would find himself getting more involved and more invested all the time.

Currently, Mutsumi is continuing to have a blast checking in on what crazy things the platoon is up to, while also periodically checking in on alternate universe versions of himself just for kicks -- kind of his weird form of people-watching. He's also still DJing as 623, this time from basically a spaceship radio station in the upper atmosphere that Kururu made for him, claiming to have "returned to his home planet Venus." He graduated a while ago so it's not like he has to worry about attending class even sometimes anymore, anyway.
